Sails

Before kids, we took a break from our advertising jobs to spend a year sailing the U.S. Gulf Coast, throughout the Bahamas to the remote Jumentos Islands, then up the Eastern Seaboard to Annapolis, MD. Our home was a modest Aloha 34, named Kaleo (ka-lay-o). This time was meaningful, having built lifelong relationships and seeing part of the world in such a unique way.

Domestic Wednesday

Even living in earthly paradise requires household chores and Wednesday was a perfect domestic day as the harbor was glass-like without a ripple of wind on its surface. It’s these type of days that make for the driest and fastest dinghy rides into town, so we took full advantage of […]

Yoga and Kids’ Church

With plans to move Kaleo around to the anchorage closest to town, we got moving early right after Chris Parker’s weather report at 6:30. The day was framed around several trips into town so we wanted “home” to be closer for easier dinghy runs. After setting the hook in the […]

Becoming Part of the BP Community

Monday brought strong winds which would make for wet dinghy rides and unpleasant sailing so we spent the morning hanging out on the boat. Just before lunch the winds let up so we grabbed the opportunity for a drier dinghy ride and headed into the beach, then made the 2-mile […]
